I have been a customer since many years. I recently placed an order and they chose to ship Priority ground advantage(parcel post). Two weeks later it appears to be lost. As an eBay seller I NEVER use this undependablle service. They go cheap and this happens. I will never shop there again. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Bait and Switch
January 23, 2023

A neighbor wore an Orvis rain jacket to an event several weeks ago. Looked great, few wrinkles. Khaki colored, several pockets were pleated.

A few days later, I saw that Orvis promoted what appeared to be the same jacket at about $100 with discount. I order this expecting that the original jacket was discounted.

Side by side, the jackets were not the same material, one cotton like, mine more like inflexible plastic and very wrinkled. I have loved Orvis clothing for years. Unfortunately, I'm seeing evidence of corner cutting. Do I need to short the stock!

I am returning a sweater, as it's very large (rightly sized, but compared to most clothing made overseas, it tends to fit big for expensive ($100 range and up) sweaters, that are indeed, made beautifully.

The stores are too far away, and the returns are too expensive, so I spoke with a very nice woman there by phone, and got a $6.95 address label right away, to return a lovely sweater ("Signature Softest Shawl-Collar Cardigan") and since so much of our clothing is made overseas, it's impossible to figure out what size is the right size. In this case, I cannot be bothered by paying another $100 for the item in smaller size (med). Seems when it looks great, feels great, but too big (maybe made here in the U.S. which is rare) it's a gamble no matter what to order online when it's not in their local stores. I'd like to go in one soon, just to check it out, as the online reps are very pleasant.

Received a catalog from Orvis this week. Saw 3 shirts I wanted. Tried to order, all they had were small and mediums. I wear an XL. CS says "catalogues printed months in advance, so sizes may be limited". So, it's a close out cat. False advertising to me. If you show a product, it should be available. Who is running marketing/sales? Lost sales are lost revenues.

Just a heads up: Before you take apart the dog bed (the bolster couch bed) to wash the cover, either take notes, photos of mental notes on which cushion liner (there are 6) goes where. They aren't labeled with more than "short" or ''long". There are no videos at all to help customers do this.

I really like Orvis clothes for women, with one exception--all of their pants are too long for me. I wish they'd give their female customers a choice of lengths like they do with the guys.

The one thing that keeps me from shopping more at this site is their shipping charges. You can get around their exorbitant shipping charges by signing up for and using their credit card, but I've got enough credit cards, already.

Hall of Fame: Orvis
October 23, 2019

Orvis, I once loved you... you know this.

You were "the" classic company for preppy and sporty casual wear as well as outdoor gear.

Your jean skirts were the staple of daily wear for the woman of the carriage trade.

Alas, you sent your manufacturing off shore... and reduced your style standards to that of the hoi polloi... what were you thinking?

Get your act together, Orvis... it is not too late to turn things around.

"Sporting traditions since 1856"...:: big sigh::

Three stars... you broke my heart!

To keep this short...
Please be aware that, if you buy something, and it does not fit due to a sizing consistency issue (as a number of customers have commented on), you are hit with a fee to exchange an item... a reduction of about $7 off of your credit for the item "returned"... even though you are (exchanging) ordering a new one in the "hopefully" correct size.
I spent an additional $14 just for the pleasure of having to exchange items for the correct size.
Won't be shopping at Orvis again!

Sad Decline
September 18, 2023

This brand use to be synonymous with quality. Now the ghays have taken over and the colors are feminine and the quality is poor. It was the Bud Light of men's outdoor clothing before trans had any voice at all. Sad decline of an iconic brand.

They claim to have world class service but not in returns. Absurdly slow return process. Slow return shipping. Slow to refund once received. They are certainly no Zappos. You either trust your customers or you don't.
