I recently purchased a raised 2' by 8' planter in cedar. At $299, unassembled, I thought it pricy, but went ahead anyway. (It presently costs $349.). Shipping was $38 + $10 for "additional freight and service". I was disappointed to read, in the assembly instructions, that regular topsoil should not be used, as it is too heavy. They recommend using only potting soil. Given the size of the container, that would add $200 to the costs if one were to use their cheapest potting mix. It would be double that for their "premium" mix ($21.95 for 5 gallons.) The item looks good. But the Phillips screws that secure the aluminum parts to the cedar are easily stripped (at the head). They should include sturdier screws.
