Have a daughter in Missoula MT who has recently filed for divorce from a husband who did not pay medical bills and she is now being garnished 25%. We are considering assisting her in funding for her bankruptcy. The question is: will she have to wait until the finalization of the BR to have the garnishment stopped or does this occur when the filing is made to the court?

According to Google AI, a garnishment should stop as soon as a bankruptcy petition is filed with the court, not necessarily waiting until the finalization of the bankruptcy process; this is because the moment you file, an "automatic stay" goes into effect, which halts all collection activities including garnishments.
