I was attracted to Resumeble given their near 5/5 ratings on product review, Trustpilot, and Sitejabber so I decided to try their service out with a 30% off.
I already have extensive experience in resume writing from the months I've spread researching resume writing articles and have constructed my resume accordingly. I looked into Resumable to help improve it in any way and would have appreciated an expert second opinion on the matter.
I was matched with a writer within half a day, I was certain he's not located in the region nor does he work in the field I'm writing a resume for. But he claimed he had experience writing resumes for my industry and the country I'm in. I would have appreciated a local writer with specific expertise in my industry, not one based abroad with baseline knowledge. In multiple industries, a personalised experience would go a long way. Nevertheless, he was very welcoming, supportive, and polite. The kind of writer that cooperates well with his client. He addressed all my concerns promptly and we were able to finalise our final draft within just under two weeks.
Now, my take, almost all the information was already present on the base raft I first supplied him with. I got the feeling that all he did was present it into a new layout and rewrite certain phrases using stronger action words. In terms of the format, it looks tidy although I liked the format of my previous resume more. In the case of content, he really helped me re-write my profile summary and job achievements, it's now a bit better content-wise.
The resume contained some grammatical errors, around 5-6, and was written in American English. This is not much of an issue as I was able to proofread it and fix it along the way. Though it took me a lot of time to do all the fixing, formatting, re-writing, and proofreading. I would have appreciated the writer to have done this on my behalf so I don't have to. But resume writing turned out to be a two-way street, I ended up doing as much, if not more, work than he did.
In the end, I was given a resume in both pdf and Docx format, unfortunately, it can only be properly edited by Microsoft Office which I don't have, due to certain styling and marginsused. Editing it with WPS Office or Libre office was not possible as it would disrupt the formatting. I spoke with my writer about it but he wasn't able to adjust the formatting to a more compatible one and recommended I use Microsoft Office instead. Not the most ideal thing but okay, almost everyone uses it anyway.
If you're naive into resume writing with a mediocre or poor resume, I recommend you subscribe to this service. The writer will be able to re-write it for you in the appropriate formatting that will help you stand out. However, if you're experienced in resume writing with a decent resume, then that service wouldn't add much to it. I doubt any other resume service to as they'll almost only be re-writing your resume out and altering the formatting a bit. Instead, you may have to look at more expensive options that offer a more personalised experience with dedicated industry-specialised writers. Not on that has base knowledge in 10+ industries. At some point, I felt my writing was just copying and pasting the sets of skills and achievements, from a list prepared earlier relevant to my occupation, and it was pretty clear he wasn't involved in the industry as he didn't really understand my role for instance: I'm a doctor, and he assumed that a medical intern and resident would have the same set of duties and responsibilities as a registrar or fellow, they're all doctors but it requires someone with a thorough industry knowledge to accommodate this appropriately while writing a resume.
Last but not least, the support team was very responsive 24/7 and were able to address my enquiries within 2-3 hours by e-mail.
