Early yesterday May 18,2024 notified to update. Updated, then scanned. All apps damaged or disabled. Cleared browsing data and restarted. No improvement. 3 times. Support ticket via email. No response. Contact on Facebook Messenger. Jerked me around. Provided support ticket number. Promised an agent would contact me. None did. Can't even get into Google Play to uninstall. No support. Try to log in to my Malwarebytes account with password. They email me verification code, enter, says Invalid Code. Starting to look like a scam.
I bought the year suscription as I suspected I had been hacked a year ago. A month ago, I checked the account since I did not want to renew and I am already using another laptop. Autorenew was off. Last week I was informed that I had been charged! Despite my phone call from USA (I live in Argentina) and my constant emails to support, the charge appeared in my creita card. Thieves.
I don't know how but after downloading the free version these people got ahold of my credit card information without my knowledge and charged me for a subscription last year that I didn't notice. I know because I recently froze my previous card and got a new one that I did NOT put into their system yet they charged it!
There is no way to get customer support from this company - its all virtual and does not provide a way to specify a unique problem - if it doesn't fit the criteria in their virtual interchange you are out of luck - no way to connect with a live person. Try to get support and all you get is on-line sales promotions - My God, I am already a subscriber. Don't try to sell me something before you solve my problem! Waste of time!
On a MacAir, I have been getting system pop up messages about virus infection and I should follow a link to buy: Norton, or MacaFee (it changes back and forth). I worked with Apple support and they reccomeded Malewarebytes. I downloaded the free version and it detected a problem, but the free version did not stop the problem so I upgraded to premium. This version can't find the problem identified by the free version so I still have the issue. Reach out to support via chat, they send me an email with a code that I have to enter back into the chat, the chat tells me to wait for another email, WTF? Ping pong back and forth until I get tired of this. Request a refund and the request a bunch of information that they already have since in I am signed in. At the end of this interchange, I do not get any confirmation message just the same three icons I started with: "contact support" "return to main menu" "ask something else"
Also since I paid via Apple Pay with a unique account number for every transaciton, I will not be surprised if my refund request gets rejected as I have no idea what account number Apple sent to Malwaerbytes.
This was a frustrating waste of my time, I can only hope that I do not need to invest more time to get that charge scrubbed.
Had this for year, not one bloody virus for detected, used other malware scanners such as hitmanpro and avast which detected several virus's... When the came time to pay for a new year, I cancelled, thought that to be it, nope. Couple months after I cancelled they charge me 60$ and say I didnt cancel, what a load of bs. I get them to respond after 5 $#*!ing days and they say'll give me a refund which will be in my account within 5-7 business days, alright, can deal with that. Soon as I get bloody paid, another 60$ is taken out of my account... Looked on malwarebyte account, they charged me 60$ straight after they refunded. Now Im down 120$ with no a penny insight so far. Will never use them again.
Malwarebytes did not resolve search hijacking viruses from my computer. Then, to make it worse; they absolutely have No Customer Support. This is a trial version so it should work the same as that after purchase, you would think.
Last week I wrote a review about Malwarebytes. I wrote that I was not able to download the protection for VPN, so what occurred the next day the VPN protection was downloaded by the Malwarebytes administration. So this afternoon, (19 July, 2023, at 4.30 p.m.) it has been uninstalled, by whoever is hacking into my computer. Some protection! So whatever protection they are offering, is quite useless. And I was charged in excess of AU$80.00. You would think that the ACCC could monitor the tactics of these so-called anitvirus protection companies. I do not have a scanner on my computer, so I cannot provide proof of purchase, I paid online with my credit card, the receipt was sent to my email address, I do not have a printer on my computer.
I was playing minecraft and running around at night and a malwarebytes popup caused a creeper to blow up my house. Hey Malwarebytes, how about you leave me ALONE. I swear I have turned off notifications for it like a lot of times and it keeps coming back? I trust it as a tool to search for viruses but until now I have never gotten like a single one so? Not that useful! I appreciate that it is free but maybe stop pestering us little guys, girls and others to purchase premium thanks, because I have NO MONEY and WILL NOT BUY IT.
-Ashlyn, hurt and angry
You can't stop them from charging your account they have a toggle button to stop auto payment but they insist on charging you anyway. I haven't used their product in over a year and they still are charging my account for renewal.
MalwareBytes creates email campaigns targeting companies. Even if they don't target your company people get marketing emails from them all the time. Some of your employees will download what appears to be a free version. However it's not a free version, or the free has limits, plus it's a home edition. I suggest you read through the EULA and Privacy Policy then decide for yourself. If your employees install more than 10 instances they know your IP and will call you asking you to pay up. They use hard tactics claiming lawsuits and lawyers. Even if you agree to remove everything they will keep coming. They try to scare you into a contract. Save yourself some grief, block any and all incoming emails from anything that has to do with Malwarebytes. Block your employees from installing MalwareBytes. Then you don't have to worry about it. Again, you should read through EULA and decide for yourself.
I have been using the FREE version for a while, so I decided to buy it to support it. BIG MISTAKE! 1st, I didn't like the fact they signed me up for "AUTO-RENEW" without my consent. I hunted for more than an hour trying to find where to disable that. I complained, so they sent me a "Refund letter" and disabled my license. I still wanted it for the year, I just wanted the Auto Renew off and told them I felt that I didn't consent to that. 3. I have gotten over 20 emails over the 2 weeks. SPAM. These people are worse than the ones I used them to protect me against. 4. Even though they "Said" I was being refunded, and they disabled the license, I have not actually received the refund from 2Checkout. I had recommended Malwarebytes in the past, and still do bit I tell them DO NOT PAY FOR IT! Not unless you want to be spammed.
The product is mediocre, but the customer support is useless, impossible to cancel renewals, garbage
I have used malwarebytes for a long time now with no issues beyond wondering if it really works. Recently I had an issue with a web search redirect issue. I followed malwarebytes directions which included clearing all data in Chrome. Bad move, ALL my shortcuts created in past years are now gone! And it didn't even fix the problem, which was an advert engine's way of dealing with an ad blocker I had turned on. Temporarily turning this off fixed the problem. I wish malwarebytes would explain the effects of each step in their step by step solutions. I am entirely pissed off!
I had a working Malware Bytes subscription. I wanted to add a license for my wife's computer. The user interface for doing so is poorly written and not easily understandable. To make a long story short I tried to add a second license and ended up being charged for three new subscriptions for my machine and no extra license. There is no way to communicate with their customer service, so I am guessing that Malware Bytes does not have one. I was able to find a site where I could send them a message about this problem. I left three messages about one week apart and have not received a single reply. I ended up contacting my credit card company and had two of the three subscription charges reversed, The problem is I can no longer use the subscription I paid for because I do not have the initialization code to activate it. So here I am out about 85 bucks with no useable product. I will never recommend or give a positive review of Malware Bytes to anyone. Their lack of customer support is very suspicious and certainly raises a few legal red flags. Stay far far away from this company.
Great product completely destroyed by their complete lack of people skills and business ethics. Never ever download it. Is is not FREE, do not leave it on your pc even after the trail period ends. Malwarebytes claims that it breaches their EULA even when the 14 trail period expires. You will be charged with many of thousand of $ and with legal action. Its useless after its trail period cannot be used at all, but they still harass you, threaten you and insult you. They have very bad people working for them. Customer service is completely lost on them.
Whatever you do, do not pay for premium service from Malwarebytes.
Accounts are auto-renewed with this auto-renew being frustratingly hard to turn off.
I have not used this product for years, yet have been continually charged. Again today I have made many attempts to cancel the auto-renewal to no avail. I have written to them to ask for assistance, so far I have been met with silence.
This is deceptive and deceitful behaviour.
As for the product itself? Any good antivirus product will work just as well.
From my experience I cannot stress enough. DO NOT PAY FOR A SUBSCRIPTION FOR THIS PRODUCT... I am disgusted and would give Malwarebytes a lot less than a one star rating if the option was available.
Nothing but problems when I loaded Malwarebytes on my home computer. Chrome crashed every time I brought it up and tried to do some work. I should have loaded malware itself on here and it would have done the same thing. Completely and utterly useless. Worse, trying to communicate with Malwarebytes the company is asking for more frustration! I just wanted to cancel my subscription and could not find a place to do it. An absolutely horrible experience.
Answer: If you get an email eluding to something you've done on your computer, then YES. If you have Windows, go to task manager, go to the Processes tab and read every line. Look for a suspicious process (unsigned) running on your computer. Google Search anything you don't understand, or are unfamiliar with.
Answer: MalwareBytes is installing Windows 10 files in to incompatible Systems. If you HAVE Windows 10, and still get hosed, please let me know. Thanks. Nan
Malwarebytes protects you against malware, ransomware, and other advanced online threats that have made antivirus obsolete and ineffective.
