I was looking for a high quality refill ink kit as an alternative to the high cost OEM product. It's important to know your source as there are many 3rd party ink suppliers in the market, the vast of majority offshore companies with sketchy quality control and production standards. I came across InkProducts and saw mostly great reviews from VERIFIED buyers which is the only way to avoid an unscrupulous sellers stacking the deck. What I found with InkProducts was a complete ink refill system built around their CIS retrofit kit. It mimics, and does it very well, ink tank photo printers. I had previously owned an Epson L850 tank printer that was a workhorse for 7 years until the main board finally failed. I replaced it with Canon's Pixma Pro 200, a superb photo printer utilizing 8 color cartridges that produce phenomenal prints up to 13x19 at 4800 x 2400 dpi. You won't get these great results at a cheap price and I was burning through the Canon CLI-65 color ink cartridges at a rate where I was replacing all 8 every 4-5 weeks at roughly $150 plus tax.
So the challenge was finding a high quality replacement ink that renders images equal to the oem products and I was looking for a reliable US based manufacturer/supplier who has a track record of good customer support, and very high ink quality product. Based on my past tank printer experience I found an opportunity with InkProducts CIS system to upgrade the Canon Printer. The install is not complicated and IP provides excellent step by step instructions that complement the YouTube Video. It takes some patience and it will require removing the Canon cartridge chips and moving them to those provided with the CIS system. Again none of this is difficult so long as you take your time and follow the instructions. Everything you need is provided. After several months of use it performs flawlessly and at this point exceeds every expectation I had at the beginning.
Ink quality is not an afterthought by any means, the color rendering is precise and vibrant using premium photo papers. I shoot mostly BW portraits and am completely satisfied with the results. Frankly, I was unable to tell the difference between a photo printed with OEM Canon and InkProducts ink.
All this doesn't come without a hiccup or two. Following the conversion, the printer and app is no longer able to display ink levels as the chip is not reprogrammable but the tanks are opaque and easy to see but it does require you pay attention. Clearing the error messages is covered in the instructions. The top cover remains in a somewhat open position with a stop and jumper is provided that once inserted tells the printer it's closed. You lose the clean linearity of the printers aesthetic But for the user focused on the end results the InkProducts CIS system and inks expands the Pixma Pro 200 capability and potential. For me, it was money well spent and I would highly recommend InkProducts to others.
