BEWARE

DO NOT EVEN LOOK THIS COMPANY UP!
THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF MONEY$$$$$$$ and TIME-WISE!
I saw an ad on Facebook and clicked on it. FIRST MISTAKE!
Then the VERY FIRST THING THEY ASK FOR IS YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION…MY SECOND MISTAKE!
Then you are routed to menus, I'm casually looking through and selecting menus I may possibly be interested in. I clicked on 2nd menu…thinking I could save the ones I like and delete the rest. No such luck. The screen turned white then came up again. There was NO CONFIRM OR CANCEL BUTTON TO HIT!‍‍‍SERIOUSLY?

Next I get a notice from my bank that hello fresh deleted my bank account for $34.82.
This is at 11:30pm on a Wednesday night. I call hello fresh to say I NEVER ORDERED ANYTHING, to CANCEL THE ORDER!
Their customer service is closed! Then hello fresh sends me an email at 12:15am saying my order had to be cancelled before midnight that very same night!
Then I wake up this morning and they have charged me ANOTHER $19.98! Keep in mind this was for 4 meals at $4.99 each. No delivery fee etc. Now I have been CHARGED $54.80 for something I never ORDERED!

DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY! I REPEAT………DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!
THEY REFUSED TO CANCEL MY ORDER OR REFUND MY MONEY!$$$$$$$$$$$$!

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS CROOKED DECEITFUL COMPANY AS POSSIBLE!

IF, A BIG "IF", THEY CANCEL MY ORDER AND REUND THE BOGUS CHARGES OF $54.80 I will think about changing this review. However, I have hours upon hours working the matter this morning and last night! The time I have spent on this is worth way more than the BOGUS $54.80. The meals were listed (in the promo on Facebook@$4.99 each with no shipping charge would come out 2 $19.96!

I am reposting this response on every review for hello fresh that I can find. I do not care how many hours this takes!

Scam Artists Doing What They Do Best
April 29, 2023

I used Hello Fresh back in 2021 and liked the service but it was too pricy. Since I work long hours, it was hard to keep up with updating the meals and back in 2021, I had a couple reps who were able to refund when life got too much. Eventually I indefinitely paused the service.

Then, about two weeks ago, a friend bought me a gift card to Hello Fresh and I was excited to try it. I added the meals I liked, added the gift card and the shadiness was apparent. They only apply gift cards over time so you don't even get the full benefit until 8 weeks have passed. When I saw this, I requested a pause so that I could make sure to get my friend's money back. Because I work 60 hours a week and the last thing I'm thinking of is Hello Fresh, I missed the cutoff by one full day. They hadn't even shipped the meal yet but refused to refund me my money. They'd rather hold onto $40 than keep a customer and avoid bad reviews. I think they are hurting because they keep trying to lure unsuspecting customers back with the promise things will be better, just like an abusive spouse.

The prices are outrageous, they don't honor gift cards honestly and one of the reps (Edwin) basically gave me no options until I called back and got a woman who actually wanted to make things better. Unfortunately for her, their supervisors like to hide and only do "call backs" which leave the reps on the phone taking the brunt of angry calls.

DO NOT USE HELLO FRESH UNLESS YOU ARE ABLE TO WATCH IT LIKE A HAWK. THEY WILL NOT HESITATE TO STEAL YOUR MONEY OR TURN GIFT CARDS INTO "PROMOTIONAL CREDITS". I am never using this service again and I highly dissuade anyone from using it unless they want overpriced meals that they could make for a fourth of the price with items from the grocery store. I'm now stuck with meals I don't want and never picked because "the chef chooses" if you miss the cutoff date. How about, if I don't order it, DON'T ORDER FOR ME!

Hope this company gets a class action lawsuit against them for unethical business practices. My box hasn't even shipped and they are "currently putting my ingredients together" and they can't send a note to production to stop? They just want your money and hope you forget about choosing meals so they can auto charge you each week.

I hope all of my bad reviews were worth the $40 because they paid good money for it.

HelloFresh seem to be operating like scammers
April 25, 2023

I went to check out the recipes on HelloFresh to see if they catered for vegans. The only way of doing this was to register as a customer and to put in credit card details, which I did. I booked a delivery slot for at least 10 days after the booking, to give me a chance to cancel the booking if I couldn't see any vegan recipes I liked.

Within 10 minutes I realised that Hello Fresh do not cater for vegans (we had wanted 4 meals per week). I hadn't chosen any recipes and didn't check out or confirm my booking and just went immediately to cancel my subscription. I found that HelloFresh take you on a complicated route if you want to cancel. It's almost as if they are trying to keep customers against their will!

Anyway, my cancellation request was successfully placed and acknowledged with an email from HelloFresh and I thought nothing further of it.

Then 2 weeks later I am checking our bank account and find that there is a charge from Hello Fresh for food I never even ordered - remember I hadn't even chosen any recipes!

I called their customer service to find out why they hadn't actioned my cancellation request, despite telling me they had. The lady on the phone told me that it was too late to do anything - I was so confused by this reply. There is always time to refund customers money!

It turns out that, for some strange reason, Hello Fresh had put into my food order 4 meals that I hadn't chosen and even though I placed a cancellation request, apparently this didn't cancel everything - only the ongoing orders. There was no email to tell me this - as far as I was aware everything had been cancelled.

I asked the lady to cancel this box saying I hadn't even ordered it and she said it was too late. I had no clue what was in the box as I had never even received an email confirmation of my first order. She eventually refunded the box charge and I asked her again to stop the order but she said it was not possible.

Anyway, the box turned up yesterday and it was full of meat meals. This may be wonderful for some - a load of free food - but for me it was a horrible experience as I have been a vegetarian for nearly 40 years and don't even buy meat or fish. I guess this is proof that I didnt' place the order if ever proof was needed.

However, the concerning issue that HelloFresh need to address here is how was it possible to place an order on a customer's behalf that they hadn't placed themselves?

Also, why do they make the cancellation process so complicated? It's shocking that they reel customers in so easily with only allowing them to view box choices after they've paid, but yet when customers don't like these choices, it is virtually impossible to stop the order.

The customer services lady told me that apparently if something like this happens again, the cancellation process is a two step process. That is so wrong! If we don't want to order, it should be enough for us to tell Hello Fresh that we have changed our mind. In my case, there was a very good reason to do this as I only eat vegan food. Hello Fresh seem to be operating in the dark ages by not providing vegan meals for their customers which really is discrimination against vegans. Also, it would be so easy to offer both a meat and a vegan version of many of their meals and they'd be saving themselves a load of money since vegan food is always cheaper than meat.

Hello Fresh - time to be more transparent and improve the way in which your system works to make it easier for customers to cancel. Stop trying to lock customers in as this is immoral. And bring your company into the 21st century by providing vegan meals (enough for a family who wants to buy 4 meals a week like we do).

Tip for consumers:

Dreadful company - I wish I had read the reviews before engaging. They clearly are scammers and employ every trick in the book to reel customers in and then to keep them against their will. They sent me an order I hadn't even placed and then tried not to refund my money until I protested strongly.

None - I am a vegan and they sent me a load of meat meals I didn't order.

Bad customer service
January 24, 2023

I had a really weird experience with Hello Fresh. They made me feel so confused. I wanted to try their products, got interested in their service. I decided to open their website and for some reason I was redirected to a form where you can leave a request for a call from hello fresh. I left my name and a phone number, left a comment that I would like to know more about their products. During the week they called me three times, but unfortunately every time they called me during my working hours and I could not answer them. On the fourth time, I managed to pick up the phone and talk. Their customer service immediately started talking to me about some discounts and promotions and asked if I wanted to place an order from my phone or computer. I replied that I really don't know anything about their services yet and would like to know more details, so I'm not sure that I will place an order right now during the call. After that a male voice started to be rude with me. He told me, "actually, we have been calling you for a week, you have never answered." Excuse me? I am your potential client, aren't you interested to tell me more about services of your company instead of blaming me for not picking up a phone, if I knew what time you will call me of course I would pick it up. But because your company don't provide a certaine time or at least a day when you gonna call, then maybe your representatives can be more patient, polite and flexible if the customer don't answer? Why did they start talking to me so rude? If I made a mistake and this application form was for other purposes, then why not politely tell me about it? Instead they answered me "not sure if you understand what this call is for. When will be a good time to call back, so you will check our website yourself and will be able to discuss our services?" I was very confused by this question. Because after this conversation i am no longer interested in your company at all. I was interested in your services before they started talking to me rudely. I wanted to leave this review to give advice to Hello Fresh customer service. This was my first impression of communicating with your company, the conversation lasted 2 minutes and one of your representatives left a super negative impression of the way how you treat your potential customers. I want to remind you that you need to help your potential customers if they do not understand something on your website and if they ask for help. I was not rude with you and didn't even have enough time to "annoy" you or something. Instead, I heard "when will be next time we can call you? So you will have time to check our website and talk." Why should I now check your website after a rude conversation? I am no longer interested and will find another alternative to your company.

Again, even if I made mistake by leaving my phone number on your website, you can politely explain what was this application form for. And if you don't like the fact that sometimes you customer don't pick up phone, then provide them with approximate time when you gonna call :)

Hello Fresh have stolen from me
December 30, 2022

Over the course of a few years I have used Hello Fresh if I had voucher. Nearly every box was missing ingredients or had items rotten. Each time I unwittingly took a partial refund as a credit on my HellomFesh account.
I decided to close my Hello Fesh account as annoyed at poor unreliable deliveries. I placed an order using my£40 credit and paying £27 plus P&P. On delivery today, all my meat was missing, the cool bags were filled with 9 ice packs.

I called customer services ( later found out in the Philippines) and spoke to 'Paul' who misled me into believing he was from the UK, was also a customer of Hello Fresh, had the same experience as me and understood what my issue was - this was all a very convincing lie.

Paul had me repeating what my complaint was over and over ( I am disabled with vocal cord palsy) so find it hard to speak.

My issue was I had ordered five meal, chicken breast, chicken pieces, mince, roast beef that came with sausages. I received the sausages! No other meat, just a cool bag with 9 icepacks.

Paul, enthusiastically told me he would refund the full price of my box £27.00 later changed to £31.00. When I explained the box was over £65.00 but a £40 credit was there because I had not received previous produce, Paul told me the £40 was a goodwill gesture from Hello fresh not my money -what!. If I had known this I would of taken cash refunds - beware foolish future customers.

This is fraud in a very disguised way. Hello Fresh don't deliver your goods- what you have paid for and offer you a partial refund as a credit to your account in the form of goodwill. You use the credit- don't get more produce you paid For - you give up ( as I have) and lose your money.

I have asked for my matter to be investigated and will obtain a police Crime reference number as feel I have been stolen from. I ordered 5 meals and not received what I paid for. When I ordered my boxes it didn't state my £27.00 paid for the meat and my credit paid for the other produce. The credit was for item that Hello Freshhad taken my money for and not delivered. It is my money and should be refunded. I brought these meals in good faith and they were not delivered.

I will close my HelloFresh account once I receive an outcome to the investigation.

DON'T ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY! They charge your account for food they don't deliver!
September 25, 2022

I would give a zero if I could. This has been a horrible experience. I have never received any of the food and I've spent hours trying to get my money back. Additionally, they keep charging me.

I ordered and paid for 3 meals for my daughter in college to be delivered on a Wednesday. No one even tried to deliver the food on Wednesday. On Thursday, my daughter got a text saying that it was on its way. It never came. Again on Friday she got a text but they came at 8:45 pm and the mail services office wasn't open. By day three, the meal wasn't "fresh" so it was canceled due to no fault of our own BUT they didn't credit me the money which had been billed in two amounts: $28.14 and $19.96. So the next week I had put it on hold so she had time to try the meals BUT Hello fresh billed me $55.03. I called and a nice woman said she would refund me for both and apologized. She refunded me the $55.03 but only one of the two amounts that I was billed on the first week. She told me that the online HelloFresh system had a problem with the hold weeks not holding. At that time, I put the following week on hold and she said she could see it. I wanted to talk to my daughter. I was thinking that this was a bad idea if everything was so complicated. So I had week three on hold and today I looked at my bank account to see that even though I had put HelloFresh on hold, they had charged me again! This time they charged me $57.74 for three meals, two of which she would never eat! This morning I called and told them about the $19.96 that wasn't credited back to my account and the new charge for food that I had put on hold. They refused to credit either. I spoke with Kim in the morning and she said a supervisor would call me in a half hour. No one called me. I spoke with Dom in the afternoon and he said no too, but when I waited at the end of the call so I could leave my review, he suddenly apologized and said to let him see what he could do. Suddenly he could credit me the money they took for food I was never given the first week and says he credited me the $19.96. I stayed on the line to leave a review as HelloFresh tells you to, but Dom wouldn't hang up. First, he begged me not to leave a bad review saying he had family and that his hands were tied. If his hands are tied then HelloFresh should untie them. It's obvious that I should have received my money back but they still owe me $57.74. DON'T ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!

Don't.

Food fine, delivery atrocious
June 22, 2022

I have used HF for five months, typically ordering 3-4 meals, 4 servings each, weekly. While there is an occasional less than fresh vegetable and one or time times packing was a big slipshod, overall I am quite happy with the recipe selection and preparation guidance. If I were rating just on that, I would give HF a 4.5 stars.

Sadly, there is more to the issue: Several weeks ago I received "shipping soon" notice for my typical Wednesday delivery. However, no actual shipping notice, no box. The chat feature only works for very minor questions that could be easily answered by reading the website. It is not a "person" chat... just a bot. So, I called. Over two days I spent hours on the phone. I was told it would come later Wednesday evening. I was told "ingredient shortage" and it would soon be on its way. I was skeptical since tracking certainly didn't reflect that optimistic assurance. Thursday, no box, no shipping notice, no food for Thursday evening. Then I was told "don't know why they told you "ingredient shortage." The box was complete and with the shipper. So, should I buy for just Thursday night and hope HF would come through? Buy for several days? Who knows? Asked to speak to supervisor. They were "not available as working remotely." I was told they'd call back within 24-28 hours (which is it?). They left a VM saying THIS "If you need anything else, please call XXXX," giving the standard CS number. Well, yes, I needed something... so I call again and go through same (getting longer) story of my woes. No help at all. Sorry. Now they say "you won't get the box." That happened on Monday. That was four days after I'd grocery shopped three times, thinking surely the HF would get delivered since they had promised it would.

So, last week my box came a day early. I could be glad it at least came, but unfortunately that meant that I ended up short for the week ahead.

AND THEN again Tuesday, only a "shipping soon" notice with no "shipped" notice. So, today tracking shows no shipment and I have no box. Talked to CS. They were hard to understand, moderately rude, and specifically unconcerned and unhelpful;. I asked to talk with supervisor. On hold long time. Came back and said that supervisor busy but would call me back within ten minutes. That was four hours ago.

Called again just now. This person, Paul, promised my box would be delivered by 8 PM TODAY. Excuse my cynicism but that was what I was told with the last non-delivery.

I'm overly angry and tired of this horrid CS. I am ready to stop by subscription. This is intended to be a convenience that I'm paying top dollar to receive. HF blames the shipper. I have a suggestion: Fix that issue. I live less than 40 minutes from where the boxes originate. Quit. Blaming the shipper. YOU, HF, decide WHICH shipper to ouse. It's your reputation on the line, not the shipper's. When I don't get what I paid for... well, it's my own stupidity if I stick with it.

So. HF: Tonight by 8 pm or it's so long. Too bad, too... because it's a great idea. In theory.

PS: I guess I really should snap a pix of my empty front porch WITHOUT any new HF box!

The idea is great, but the execution is lacking.
January 16, 2022

1.) Chat support will take you out of the message box after each time you press enter to send something. Over and over again. You have to re-click in. (I was using Google Chrome) So getting by that hurdle in hopes of getting the actual issue solved is exhausting.

2.) They sent mail with codes. Code included a dash, which makes the code invalid online. Entering code in correctly did not get an expired code and rep had to tell me it was expired (through that miserable chat experience) Mail only says behind each coupon peel off to "Redeem within 30 days"

3.) Instructions were annoying and garbled at times where I had to read the entire sheet first to prep for their disorganization. Vague steps like "use xyz ingredient now" then 7 steps later, "use rest of xyz ingredient" OH, well what if I used it all when I was told to use it?

4.) Some food was already starting to go bad on arrival, example being a small bell pepper turning that wrinkled decomposition texture.

5.) Bait-and-switch tactics with their coupon codes. They sent another round of coupons to me, I tried to use it within 2 days of receiving it, but the deal ended up switching on me again where it wasn't accurate.

6.) Before I knew the coupon was a sham, I tried to log in to the website. There were two buttons to click. One was to re-active my account. The other was to be taken to the menu to browse items to pick out. I just wanted to browse the food first to see if it was worth re-activating. Clicking the browse option, I saw it ALSO highlighted the "re-activate my account" setting. LUCKILY, I contacted a rep to confirm that my account was still cancelled so I wouldn't be charged for anything.

So, at least the customer service was able to do that for me, which is appreciated.

I love the idea of picking out portioned meals at home, was excited to try this company since I hear them sponsoring people all the time, but I just was not impressed at all and broken websites frustrate me to no end.

Bonus 7.) After months of having HelloFresh cancelled, they still kept sending me junk mail. I had to go to their chat to request them to stop. In order to do that, they "needed" my first name, last name & e-mail address. I told them they only need my physical address to cancel their junk mail coming to me. Rep was nice, but this company is lacking.

HelloFresh Coupon Nightmare
November 7, 2021

I honestly usually don't write reviews unless I have a really wonderful or really terrible experience. And I don't leave bad reviews unless I've given the company at least 4-5 tries to correct whatever issues I'm having. But unfortunately, the customer service here is TERRIBLE, or pretty much non-existent, and I don't want others to have to go through the same problems I have.

I recently moved and received "6 free boxes and free shipping" as a welcome package shortly after I changed my address with the US postal service. When I went to use the link, I picked my meals and went to check-out. I clicked back to make a change, however, and when I went to go check out fully, the link was expired. So I called into HelloFresh, explaining the problem. The gentleman said he couldn't find the code I used but gave me another coupon that promised to do the same thing. Except when I went to check-out, I saw I was being charged the $8.99 for shipping.

So I called in again. The next rep said she could get me the free 6 boxes, but couldn't apply the free shipping. But I should pay it and would be reimbursed. A little backwards, but I'm busy and don't have time, so fine- I'll do it.

I have the luxury of being able to go to the office or work from home and I live in an apartment complex, so I decided to stay home on the day my food was to be delivered; I didn't want someone taking it or it to sit out in the hot Florida sun for long. Then I get a call from my roommates back home- after all of the reps going in and "fixing" things, my box was sent to my old address they had on file from when I used HelloFresh over a year ago. Even though the whole point of the promotion was because I moved. It *also* arrived a day early- so even if I had stayed home from work, it wouldn't have mattered.

The whole point of getting this is because I'm very busy with a new move, new work, and I want to eat healthy and didn't have a lot of time. I had tried HelloFresh a while ago and honestly wasn't very impressed at the time. One of my zuchinnis had mold on them, and a lot of the other veggies and fruits were bruised- far from fresh. The meals also take a little longer than I'd like. But I didn't want to do a trip to the grocery store or look up meals for the week, so I figured I'd give it a shot again.

Since then, I've spoken with 2 other customer service reps, asked them to remove my card, change my address, and send my original box to the correct location. After the 4th rep, I asked to speak to a manager to get my issues resolved. I was promised I'd speak to a supervisor or manager, but was instead sent to voicemail. I left a message over 2 weeks ago with still no response.

I have yet to receive a HelloFresh box, and now my card is being charged weekly for something I'm not getting. At this point, now I'm contacting my bank to reverse the charges and will be reporting my issues to the Better Business Bureau. I went to use HelloFresh because I was looking to make things a bit easier during my move, but it's only created so many more problems.

I know there are other companies that do the same thing. I'm not sure if these issues are common with delivery meal-preps, but I would honestly save yourself the trouble and look up quick and healthy meals on Pinterest. I prepare a lot of meals with few ingredients that don't take a lot of time, my grocery bills are down, I know the food is going to be fresh, and it doesn't take too much time shopping or with the meal prep.

But I hope this helps, and better luck to all of you nice folks!

Tip for consumers:

It's very difficult to remove yourself from the automatic deliveries and remove your card. The customer service is terrible. I tried resolving this issue with 5-6 customer service reps. I sent multiple emails. I even escalated my problems to a manager, was promised I could talk to someone, and was instead sent to voicemail with no returned call after 2 weeks.
