AVOID THIS COMPANY! What a nightmare! I dealt with "the baron" himself at chessBaron and what a joke. As you can see by my photo's, I recieved a marble chess set in shocking condition for £169! Pieces dusty and glued to the fabric (i could not get off) plus they felt very light, a manky case with crumbling old cardboard underneath, all the fabric surrounding the pieces is unstitched/ripped. The marble board was filthy with a grainy rough feel on top and marks seeped into the marble. Clearly no spot-checking, care or thought for the presentation/products sent out. What was even more hilarious was the guarantee's and information that had been printed off, about the quality and excellence of the set which wasn't worth the paper it was written on
I had the set for all of an hour and then sent it back but his customer service is shocking and his attitude even worse, the way he "talks down to you", I just ignored, but having the ordacity to tell me that there is NOTHING WRONG with the chess set I recieved that it's ready for the next customer. (I feel sorry for whoever that is!) And that there was a "Level of magnifying and unrealistic examination" - on my part! What? Like my eyes can't see mate! He's deluded and for someone with over "20years in e-commerce" HE SHOULD KNOW BETTER!
Continue the nightmare I had to pay for sending it back, this was NOT mentioned anywhere. He said It would be cheap and I would be refunded... more lies. £16.33 which I never got back. Once he had the item, he said I would be refunded in a few days, fast forward a week - nothing, so I chased him with ONE email. Fast forward another week, NOTHING. So I informed him I had started a "Disputes Refund" with the bank of my card... Funnily enough after waiting 14 days for a refund, it appeared in my account that very same day!
I have seen another review for this so called "company" 2years ago (scroll down!) by someone called William... I should of listened to that one, clearly things haven't changed. No doubt baron will reply to this review as he did to William's in the same sarcastic rude above himself manner! Well you have all been warned! I will NEVER use ChessBaron again. If you don't want a crappy shoddy product may I suggest 'The Regency Chess Company' - now that's a 5 star company with a 5 star product.
